I was with Delta Company 2 RAR and was based within Rifle Company Butterworth (RCB), Malaysia. While we were on roving patrol, I went back to my room with Darren Smith ex Alpha Coy. I went to get something or other and found Dez McCoy flat on his back having a snooze. I went up whilst he was asleep and whispered in his ear hole, “Get the wallet, get the wallet” in a dodgy Malay accent. Well, poor old Dez woke up hissing like a feral cat and reached out like a starfish with all fours swinging all over the place. He hit his shinbone rather hard on the truncheon… and me and Smithy could do nothing. We were rolling round on the floor absolutely pissing ourselves at Dez’s reaction while he was rubbing his very sore shinbone, saying, “Geez, you’re a fuckhead sometimes, Gibson.” Me and Smithy lost it again…. We were actually on the floor laughing like all fuck…You had to be there, I suppose.
