In ’86, Rufus was my No 2 on the Carl Gustav at a live fire. He was weighed down with the normal gear plus steel helmet, flake jacket, gas mask strapped to his thigh, two 84 bombs on his other thigh and two on his back. The young 2Lt issuing the bombs asked him to carry two more! Without missing a beat Rufus asked him to come round behind him and shove them up his arse, because that was the only spot left.
