MILK BOTTLES By John Bergmans, 4 RAR/NZ
We had a very high-ranking sergeant major within 4 RAR who was very fond of the amber fluid (who wasn’t?). WO1 Wally Thompson was known to over-indulge in the consumption of such liquid on a regular basis. So much so that he was effectually given the nickname “Milk Bottles”.
The reason:-
He was often found cold & wet, sitting on the front doorstep in the morning.
