Early in 1993 in 3 RAR, Charlie Company did a full-on “unarmed combat course” at Gan Gan near Nelson Bay.
Funny, on our course of just grunts, some female transport soldiers were at Gan Gan doing their own truckie gig in a lecture room. Blue Curran invited some of the girls in for an informal lesson. Blue asked one of the girls to get up for a demo as he wanted to demonstrate to this Army lass how to protect herself if some bloke grabbed her tits (unwanted). He then asked us grunts for a volunteer and just about every bloke raised his arm. He picked me.
‘Great,’ I thought. I was going to fondle breasts. Then Blue said, “Now, pretend you are in a bar and you want to play with my tits.” He was prancing around, pretending to be a girl. So I tried to fondle his tits, then FUCK I was on the floor in agony. He twisted my hand so suddenly, as if I were a contortionist. I was in pain and at his mercy. Never volunteer.
